No audio on video files
The audio on my video files wont play on an iPad Pro. Difficult to setup. Downloaded Amber ix app on pc , android phone, and iPad. Screen on each is different. Initially it uploaded every photo on my phone. I didn't want any photos uploaded.

Not as user friendly as you would think
This product is great when it works but over time its not as user friendly as you would think. You have to log into different browsers, plug cords directly into routers and do a lot o stuff shy of coding to make it even turn on. I think the price tag is a bit much for something that over time might become an expensive conversation piece paperweight.
NINGUN PAGO EXTRA!!! Mi nube personal privada!!!!!!!
Facil de usar y excellente inversión, tenía anos esperando que saliera a la venta, tiempo que sabía de él y no me equivoqué al comprarlo!
A really good product, almost perfect for me
A really good product, I highly recommend it. It's easy to use, the Amber iX app is solid with support for lots of media playback, I can access my stuff from anywhere, and it's expandable. If you watch anything with softcoded subtitles, the app doesn't let the user select subtitles. You can either download the file (kinda defeats the point of something like this imo) or watch hardcoded subs. Same with audio, you can't pick which audio track to use. It does play MKV really well, though. It's a little awkward with stuff like Twitter. I can't select the Amber iX if I want to upload photos from Twitter, and I can't copy photos to my clipboard. The only option I have is a normal share button, which is fine, but a little awkward (e.g. if I'm replying to somebody). On the other hand, uploading stuff to my Amber X is fine, though.I would love to see a Pro version with USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and maybe 2.5 Gbps. I would pay probably an extra $150 for both (although I would prefer the former, cause there are lots of good hubs on the market).I do recommend this device for the average person, I think it's as easy to use as any smartphone. I look forward to the next version they release, I'll buy it if they upgrade the ports.

Love it
Great device, easy to set, flexible to accept high capacity USB storage flash drives, finally a personal cloud with no fees!
Great place to store my many pics of my baby
I love that I can store my pictures and videos on here and so many other things. Very easy to uses and sleek and portable. Highly recommend.
Really great entry level NAS
Out of the box, this device just works - I wouldn’t say it’s easy enough for your mom to use, but if you know what an ip address is you can probably figure this thing out. It automatically creates web access + smb access, and sets up a secure username and password for you that is shared across both places.
You can also choose to encrypt the disk when you first set it up, if you are worried about the device itself getting stolen with sensitive data.
In a recent update they have unlocked the ability to use this as a Home Assistant server and a Plex server. I have set up the Plex side of that, and it works perfectly- can handle multiple direct play streams to my Apple TV, iPad, and computer at the same time. Not a huge surprise, since the hardware in here is more powerful that Synologys, WD, Qnaps, etc. that are twice the price.
I don’t personally use this for photo backup, but the app makes it easy enough to set that up.
All in all, if you want an easy to maintain NAS that that’s relatively affordable - and you don’t need many TBs of redundant data (i.e. if the built in 512GB + an external drive is enough for you) then this is hard to beat.
Perfect in every way, personal cloud ownership.
