Reallt great entry level NAS
This is a really great entry level NAS for anyone who wants to have a NAS but doesn’t want to deal with all the admin that comes with a lot of NAS systems.Out of the box, this device just works - I wouldn’t say it’s easy enough for your mom to use, but if you know what an ip address is you can probably figure this thing out. It automatically creates web access + smb access, and sets up a secure username and password for you that is shared across both places. You can also choose to encrypt the disk when you first set it up, if you are worried about the device itself getting stolen with sensitive data.In a recent update they have unlocked the ability to use this as a homeassistant server and a plex server. I have set up the plex side of that, and it works perfectly- can handle multiple direct play streams to my Apple TV, iPad, and computer at the same time. Not a huge surprise, since the hardware in here is more powerful that synologys, wd, qnaps, etc. that are twice the price.I don’t personally use this for photo backup, but the app makes it easy enough to set that up.All in all, if you want an easy to maintain NAS that that’s relatively affordable - and you don’t need many TBs of redundant data (i.e. if the built in 512gb + an external drive is enough for you) then this is hard to beat.
Good and quick response.
I could transfer all videos and photos easily. I added 1 Tb Ssd with my movies and response is good . It is easy to store all movies / videos and connect to TV using HDMI out . Good value for money
Using as a small SSD NAS for Time Machine
Bought this to use as a small form factor single drive SSD NAS for Time Machine for my 256GB Macbook. I don't use the mobile or desktop apps although I had to install the iOS app for the initial setup and account creation. Afterwards it is managed using a web browser. I don't use any of its other features only for Time Machine. Also I didn't have to do anything to get Time Machine working. After plugging into my router, creating an account with the iOS app, and it updating itself firmware. A Time Machine drive just showed up on my network and I started using it. Very happy with the hardware and software of this product and the ease of use in setting up for Time Machine. It is also fast and the web interface looks good.
Easy personal cloud server
Easy to use server for personal files without using a cloud. Only complaints I have is there’s no search function on the app when scrolling thru media files. I’ll have to do a little research and see, but all in all it’s a great product!
Great cloud backup solution
When it comes to cloud based storage I love that this product has its own encrypted and secure storage app. I take lots of photos as a content creator and this has been great for saving space on my phone. The app is straightforward to use and I like the sharing options for sharing photos with my family and friends. This product makes me feel secure about the privacy of my backed up photos and I highly recommend this to anyone who frequently runs out of space on their smartphone.
It's amazing and great, suggest make it little more user friendly and maybe 1TB n 2TB options

Thank you for your comment! We're actively developing our software to make it easier to use and we hope you'll see improvements over time. For more storage you can add a USB drive or look at our AmberPRO devices. Thanks again for your business!
Works As Expected!
We have been using our Amber X for approximately a year now and haven't had any problems with it. We use it to back up our photos, videos, music, document files, etc.My family enjoys audio dramas so it has been nice to have the space to host all the audio files without paying a monthly subscription fee to the "true" cloud services. I also appreciate being able to host the files on an SSD located on site and not in some warehouse on the west coast. The interface isn't as user friendly as many of the true cloud storage servers, but it suites our family's needs. Streaming the audio files sometimes causes a lag when losing in between tracks (could just be my personal internet bandwidth). I typically download the files I need before I listen to them. It works well that way.Only complaint (I'm sure this is an update that will come later) is that you can't start or stop audio/video files through Bluetooth. For example, I can't ask Echo to pause the music that is playing through its speaker. I have to find my phone and open the app to pause any audio files. You can't pause from the iPhone home screen either.Final thoughts: Great product. Would recommend for a simple network storage system if you aren't familiar with complex Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems and want to be able to access your files remotely without a pricey VPN subscription. For the remote access, you are attached to latticework proprietary software, but if they ever go out of business, you should (in theory) still have a hard drive that will work on your local network (just not remotely).
I cannot recommend this product
1. It REQUIRES you to setup an online account, and log in to use the device every time.2. The software is HORRIBLE! It is difficult to find what you want, and the online help does not match this device. (I don’t do customer support, if they can’t make it usable then I look for something better.)3. For Manual backup, there is no “select all” for your photos.4. Using External USB memory, Once a picture is backed up, you cannot back it up again. I like to have multiple backups on different Thumb drives.5.I’m in the process of finding something that actually works well, from a different company.

Thank you for your feedback. It is common and necessary for security purposes to create an account in order to connect to a device over the internet. We're sorry that the product did not meet your expectations but we will continue to strive for improvement. Please email support@myamberlife.com if you need any assistance.
Be nice if it worked
Was very excited. Bought one of these to use as a main backup for my desktop, android, and iphone backups. Setup was a breeze- no problem there. However...although the android backup went smoothly...I can't say the same thing about my wife's iphone backup. It doesn't work if you include anything to do with Icloud. And although you can access the Amber X app on the web using Linux...forget about backing up any Linux drives with data on them. Even though I got through to Tech support...the guy was no help at all...and basically blew me off. Very disappointed...I never write bad reviews
